It seemed so very brilliant

It seemed so very brilliant

When he scribbled it down for all posterity

Thoughts that soared from his vivid imagination

On wings of luridly vivid prose as liquid as dreams

Illusive maybe and maybe that was why the words fell so flat now

Their luster stripped away, dulled, shed off like the snake’s skin

Worn away by time and his awaking like the sheen on a pearl exposed to rough waters
