Funny thing about humor, not everyone gets the joke. Some laugh before the punchline, because a comedian has put them in such a good mood. Others take a breath before their guffaw. And a portion of the crowd just sits in silent judgement.
Joke’s on me, I say. Nothing is as funny as someone (else) slipping on a banana peel. Pratfalls are not jokes, I tell you, pointedly. They are devices used by the physical comic to make us burst out loud with laughter. Jokes can be subtle, broad, or folksy.
“Man walks into a bar…” is the way some jokes start. “Why a duck?” was a line I remember but do not recall how that joke went. Humor is personal like everything else in your life.
Those who say that “laughter is the best medicine” may simply be promoting their business as comics. Or, they may be sharing a prescription for a good and happy life.
