II Hearts

aheartThe heart, a muscle, often stands in for love

Is it really the organ of our desires?

Does it feel the pangs of loss or

The exhilaration of romance?

Does it quake with lust? Does it

Quiver when Cupid’s Arrow hits its mark?

Is it deflated by rejection or dejected and

Unnerved when the object of its pleasures

Turns elsewhere? Does it feel lonely and

Unloved until it meets its soul mate?

The heart’s a muscle that often stands in for love.
