Illnesses are defined by their symptoms, at least in the lay mind. There may be a symptom of discomfort which simply translates as muscle ache or fatigue. We think of it as more encompassing. We worry, we fret. We ask our doctors.
Likewise, society can show a symptom of disease which is not necessarily indictive of a cancer spreading. It may just be dystopia, a kind of lassitude of the principles of justice. It is curable by good people standing up and saying nay to naysayers. Nihilism and disruption can make you feel queasy, but it is just a hangover from the November election.
