Gone but not forgotten

via Daily Prompt: Trace

Without a trace, all is forgotten. (c) Tamara Beck

There are things that disappear without a trace, and others which are revealed when we trace their origins.

Tracing (and disappearing) are both arts, if contradictory ones. A shadow of shading shows us what was there before. It is like a wisp of a form. When the shading is gone, there is nothing there at all to remind us of the past.
